I'm Dave Edwards, and I run Drumroll Please on my own from Sydney. This page explains what personal information I collect through drumroll.au, why I collect it, and what I do with it. If anything here isn't clear, just ask me.
Who I am and how to reach me

What I collect
When you get in touch or book a chat: your name, business name, email, phone number and anything you choose to tell me.
When you use the Website Health Check:
- Your name, business name, mobile, email, website and the kind of business you run (these are required, so I can run the check, send your report and follow up).
- The searches you'd like to be found for on Google (at least one).
- Your booking system, if you tell me.
- Any optional extras you tick: your business name and suburb as they appear on Google, and your quick answers about TripAdvisor and ATDW.
- Whether you'd like the odd tip or update from me.
Spam protection: a scrambled (one-way) version of your internet address and your browser type. I use these only to stop spam and abuse, such as someone running the check over and over. The scrambled address can't be turned back into your real one.
Public information about your business: the Health Check reads your website's public pages and sitemap, Google's mobile speed score for your site and, if you tick it, your public Google Business Profile details. It doesn't log in to anything or look at anything private.
How you use drumroll.au: general information such as the pages you visit, collected by Google Analytics (more on that below).
Why I collect it
- To run your Health Check, show your results on screen and email your report to you.
- To follow up with you personally. I get a copy of every report, I'll do some research of my own (including checking where you stand for the searches you gave me), and I'll give you a call to talk it through. You're told this on the form before you submit it.
- To reply to your enquiries and to provide my services if we work together.
- To send you occasional tips and updates, but only if you've ticked the box to say yes.
- To protect the site and the Health Check from spam and misuse.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful, so I can improve it.
If you'd rather not give me the required details, that's completely fine, but I won't be able to run the Health Check for you. You're welcome to call or email me instead.
Who sees your information
Just me. I don't sell, rent or trade your details, I don't share them with anyone for their marketing, and I never publish your results.
To run the website and the Health Check, I use a few service providers. They handle information on my behalf, only to provide their service:
| Provider | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| WPMU DEV | Hosts the drumroll.au website | Sydney, Australia |
| Supabase | Stores Health Check details and reports | Sydney, Australia |
| Resend | Sends the Health Check report emails (it receives your name, email address and report) | A United States company, sending from its Tokyo, Japan location |
| Measures your website's mobile speed and looks up your public Google Business Profile (it receives your website address, and your business name and suburb if you tick that box) | United States and other countries | |
| Ubersuggest | Helps me check where your website ranks for the searches you gave me (it receives your website address and those searches, not your contact details) | United States |
| Google Analytics | Shows me how people use drumroll.au | United States and other countries |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | The security check that stops bots | Worldwide network |
| My email provider (OpenSRS hosted email, part of Tucows) | Runs my inbox, including my copy of your report and any emails between us | May be outside Australia |
I may also share information if the law requires it.
Information sent overseas
Your Health Check details and report are stored in Australia. However, some of the providers above work from other countries, mainly the United States and Japan, and possibly Canada for my email. So parts of your information (such as your name, email address, website, business name and the searches you gave me) may be handled overseas while those services do their job. I only use well-established providers, and I only give them what they need to do their job.
How I keep it safe
Health Check details are kept in a locked-down database that only I can access, and they're never visible to the public. I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, but no system on the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
How long I keep it
- Health Check details and reports: up to 2 years, then they're deleted.
- Spam-protection records: 90 days.
- Enquiries and client records: as long as I need them to work with you, and to meet my legal record-keeping obligations.
You can ask me to delete your details sooner at any time.
Emails, texts and calls
After a Health Check I'll call you once to talk through your results. If you'd rather I didn't, just tell me and I won't call again. I'll only send you tips and updates if you've said yes. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can simply reply "unsubscribe".
Cookies and analytics
drumroll.au uses Google Analytics to show me how people use the site, such as which pages get visited, roughly where visitors are from and what device they're on. It uses cookies to do this. It doesn't tell me who you are, and I don't use it for advertising.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site will still work fine.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, or ask me to correct or delete it. Email or call me and I'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first and I'll do my best to put it right. I'll respond within 30 days.
If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
